The Regional Training Framework is a dynamic online platform, which allows SPDMM members to exchange information about military and defence civilian training opportunities in a consolidated online course library.
The Regional Training Framework (RTF) will be a catalyst for effective coordination of training, helping the SPDMM community to strengthen our shared responses to common security challenges. The RTF enhances two-way feedback to ensure training is aligned to the needs to the South Pacific Defence community. It recognises the value of training in advancing people-to-people connections and interoperability.
SPDMM members will have greater visibility of defence training opportunities, and be able to filter training by country and by career pathways. The course library will allow SPDMM members to share information about in-person training and participate in self-paced online training.
The website prototype was launched in May 2025 for consultation between SPDMM members at the RTF Workshop held in Brisbane.
The Regional Training Framework Workshop (Brisbane, 1-2 May 2025) reinforced the strong appetite for more coordinated training between South Pacific defence personnel. Every SPDMM member attended. The workshop was an excellent opportunity to have a conversation about regional training priorities and how, as a South Pacific defence community, we can use the Regional Training Framework to better coordinate training and leverage our strengths to build collective capability.
